From one family’s schedule to a nation in motion.

How the beautiful chaos of raising five children inspired a new way for families, teams, businesses and communities to share time.

A family rarely has just one schedule.

There is the school calendar, the soccer team calendar, dance classes, scouts, appointments, work commitments and the plans families make together. Each schedule belongs to a different group, but they all shape the same family life.

For entrepreneurs and life partners Liat and Gilad Hertanu, this was not an abstract productivity problem. It was their everyday reality - and it inspired them to build two different approaches to making time easier to manage.

First came 24me.

In the early 2010s, Liat and Gilad were raising three children under the age of four while building their careers.

“We felt overwhelmed with all the day-to-day life activities.” Liat

They wanted one place where each person could organize their personal calendars, tasks, notes and reminders. When they could not find an app that brought everything together, they created 24me.

Since launching in 2013, 24me has helped people manage their individual schedules and responsibilities through one connected personal assistant. It gave Liat and Gilad a clearer way to organize their own days as parents, entrepreneurs and partners.

But as their family grew, they discovered another challenge - one that was not about managing an individual calendar. It was about connecting all the groups that shaped their family’s time.

One family. Many calendars.

A few years later, the Hertanu family had grown to seven.

Each family member continued to have their own personal calendars connected. But their schedules were also being shaped by many external groups: schools, tennis teams, dance classes, scouts, workplaces and the family itself.

The school managed one schedule. Their son’s tennis team managed another. Their daughter’s scouts organized trips, camps and activities. The family had its own plans, while Liat and Gilad also had work, sport and personal commitments.

They did not need to replace their personal calendars. They needed a platform that could adapt to their dynamic lives - allowing every group to manage its own shared calendar while automatically bringing all the relevant events into each person’s complete schedule.

That insight became GroupCal.

Every group manages its own.
You see everything together.

GroupCal brings the simplicity of group messaging to scheduling.

People can create or join multiple shared calendars, each with its own members, purpose and updates. A school can manage its calendar, a sports team can publish practices and games, and a family can coordinate appointments and plans.

When any of those groups adds or changes an event, the relevant members receive the update automatically. Their calendars are populated by the different shared calendars they belong to, creating one clear, aggregated view of their schedule.

One living schedule

No copying. No chasing.
No rebuilding.

GroupCal does not ask every part of life to fit inside one shared calendar. It lets each group manage its own - and brings everything together for the individual.

There is no need to copy dates from messages, repeatedly ask whether plans have changed or manually rebuild everything inside a separate master calendar.

GroupCal does not ask every part of life to fit inside one shared calendar. It allows each group to manage its own - and then brings everything together for the individual.

“This isn’t just about managing time. It’s about creating an environment where our family can grow together, celebrate each other’s journeys, and ensure that no one is left out of the loop.” Liat

What began at home kept growing

The same challenge exists at every scale.

Teams, schools, service providers, businesses and communities all need a simple way to publish schedules and keep people informed as plans evolve.

Every kind of groupfamilies to communities

Families

Bring school, activities and family plans together.

Teams

Coordinate members, practices, shifts and resources.

Organizations

Publish a living schedule that updates in real time.

Communities

Turn many contributors into one connected calendar.

The scheduling challenge the Hertanus experienced at home was not unique to families. Teams, businesses, schools, service providers, nonprofit organizations and communities all depend on schedules maintained by different people. They need a simple way to publish events, coordinate members and keep everyone informed as plans evolve.

Today, GroupCal helps hundreds of thousands of users worldwide, while tens of thousands of businesses use it to coordinate teams, serve their audiences and build more connected communities.

A temple can maintain separate calendars for its events and service providers. A school can share calendars for classes, departments and activities. A business can coordinate employees, appointments and resources. A community can publish a living schedule that updates for everyone in real time.

GroupCal becomes more than a calendar. It becomes the scheduling engine that helps a group operate, communicate and grow.

A national case study

When a nation needed one connected schedule.

In 2026, the Cayman Islands Government launched Move It Cayman, a 12-week national movement challenge bringing together government, businesses, nonprofits, schools and community partners across three islands.

The challenge was designed to help residents become more active and build healthier habits. Government agencies, private businesses, nonprofit organizations, schools and community partners across Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman contributed community walks, fitness classes, webinars and wellness events.

Many organizers

To make those opportunities accessible, the official government website featured GroupCal-powered community calendars. Different event providers could manage their own schedules, while residents discovered free and paid activities from across the islands through coordinated calendar views updated in real time.

One place to discover

What could have become a fragmented collection of events from many organizations became one accessible national schedule.

Updates in real time

The initiative demonstrated GroupCal’s ability to scale from coordinating the activities of a household to supporting the schedule of an entire community - and helping a nation move around a shared purpose.

One simple idea at every scale

Your life is shaped by many groups.
Every group has its own schedule.

GroupCal began with a truth Liat and Gilad discovered through their own family: technology should not require one person to gather, copy and maintain all that information.

Each group should be able to manage its own calendar, while every person automatically receives a clear view of the plans that matter to them.

That idea works for a family of seven. It works for a school, sports team or growing business. And, as the Cayman Islands demonstrated, it can work across an entire nation.

What began as a way for the Hertanus to bring harmony to the beautiful chaos of family life has grown into a platform that helps families, teams, businesses and communities move together.

GroupCal is built on one simple idea: every group manages its own schedule, while every person sees what matters to them in one clear view. From one family’s home to a national initiative, GroupCal helps people spend less time coordinating - and more time showing up for what matters.
